Can't Get Out! by Fear359 (f, qs) Sandra started out her day the same as always, get up, take a shower, get dressed and go to work. But today was going to be different. Today she was trapped in somehthing she didn't understand, something that she could not get out of, or escape. Sandra went out for a walk out into to woods to clear her head about what she wanted to do with her life, and if she wanted to stay married to the man who had stood beside her since they were kids. She got a job offer that would almost triple the money she was making now, but that meant picking up and moving back to California, a place that she swore that she would never ever go back to. As Sandra looked at her watch, she still had an hour to go before she had to leave for work, so she decided to take the long way home over the stream, and she would still be at work with 15 minutes to spare. As she was walking she thought about how bad California was when she left, crime everywhere, all the people, and the bad air. Ever since she and her husband had moved to a small town outside Anchorage, they had been really happy, but now that this job popped up, and she was the front runner for it, it had created riffs inbetween her and her husband. He worked for the pipeline there and made really good money, but he was gone four days out of the week, and Sandra was getting really lonely and wanted him to find something to do. She told him that she didn't care about the money, all she wanted was for him to be home more than three nights a week. Sandra came up over the hill, and was almost to the stream when she saw something that caught her eye. It was a jeep that looked like hers only it was a darker blue than hers. As she thought about it, and why it was out here, it hit her, /fishing season!/ So with that Sandra kept on walking, but when she got to the bridge, and took a step on it the wood began to crack. Not wanting to fall into the river and get soaked, she spotted a log about fifty-five yards away from her on the right. As she started going down the hill, she almost fell twice because of the slick mud. She knew that she would have to get home and change her shoes because these would be completely muddy by the time she got home. As Sandra got less than twenty yards from the log, she started to notice that the ground was moving with every step she took. Thinking that this was funny and cool, she began to step on the ground even harder, and that made the ground bounce even more. When Sandra was three feet from the log, her left foot went through the ground she was walking on, and before she could stop herself, her right foot went in too. She just stood there a couple of minutes swearing at herself for being so stupid, and then she tried to pull her left foot back out, but all that did was drive her right foot in deeper. Then she tried the right foot, but then her left foot followed her right foot, and went in deeper. Sandra still didn't think that she was in any type of danger, so she thought that she would have some fun with it, she would just get into work a little late today, that's all. As she tried to pull her legs out the mud the suction just grew that much tighter, so she decided that she would pump her legs up and down to loosen up the suction, and then get out. But as she started to pump her legs, she had this strange feeling that the ground beneath her feet was getting softer. And just as she felt the mud suction give her feet back, the bottom gave out, and Sandra sank in up to her knees. Sandra thought about calling out for help, but she didn't want to look like the poor female that can't get out of a little mud. Sandra saw that the log was only a few feet away, and so she leaned forward to see if she could reach it. As she did she could feel herself sinking more, and she knew that she had to get out of it. Sandra stretched as far as she could, and somehow got a hold of the log. As she began to pull, the mud was holding her in fast, so she began to pump her legs again, and once again the mud became soft, and ever so slowly Sandra began to come up out of the mud. It took her almost an hour to get out of the muck, and when she did get out, she was covered in slime. She crossed the log, and got home called work, and told them that she had a little trouble this morning, and would be late. Sandra got to work about fifty minutes late, and the whole time she was there she kept thinking aobut the mud she had been trapped in, and how fun it felt to be trapped with no one around, and feeling helpless to a point. She asked her boss if she could have the rest of the day off so she could do some more thinking, about this job offer, and he told her to go ahead, and take the rest of the day off. Sandra rushed home, got changed, and got on her computer. Looking up deep mud/quicksand she got a whole lot of sites, and things to do, and what not to if you get stuck. After checking out each and every site, Sandra thought that she had everything that she needed to know. Sandra jumped in her truck, and headed out for the deepest part of the forest, as she hit the dirt road leading into the forest the sun was slowly getting blocked out by the trees and the ground began to rock Sandra's truck. She put it in four wheel drive, and drove on. After about ten minutes she could go on no more, so she stopped the truck and jumpped out of the truck, and began her search for someting to sink in. Sandra hiked for almost two miles, but found nothing to sink in, and when she came up over a hill stopped looked around, and started walking down the hill. When she got near the bottom she could feel to ground getting softer, like it was this morning when she got stuck. Thinking that this might be be the place she could sink into for a little bit she stopped and pulled out a rope that she had brought with her just in case she couldn't get out. She walked over to a tree, and tied the rope around it. After putting the other end around her waist Sandra began to walk forward, the ground was soft, but it wasn't acting like the mud she sunk in this morning. After walking around for about twenty minutes, she got mad, and thought that she would try some place else to do some sinking. As she went back to untie the rope she looked to her left, and saw a big open area that might be promising. Sandra untied the rope from the tree, and began to make her way the the open area. As she got to it, there was a tree branch on the ground, and it was rather big, so she picked it up, and let it fly. The branch hit the ground with a dull sounding noise, and then Sanda noticed that the ground moved like it was one giant water bed. Her eyes lit up, and she tied the rope off on a tree. Sandra started walking out onto the open area, and the ground was becoming more and more unstable. As she got to the middle of the area the ground was trying to hold her feet down, and when she looked down at them, she could see her hiking boots slowly sinking in the muck. Sandra pumped her legs, but could not sink any deeper. She thought, 'The the deep stuff must be a little further,' but as she tried to move forward, something tugged on her back, and as she turned around, she got pissed, she was at the limit of the rope. She turned around and said a few bad words, and took the rope from around her waist and threw it back, and stood there for a moment, thinking about walking out a little more, she knew that she didn't want to get caught in some kind of mud with nothing to pull herself out with. So Sandra turned around, and started walking back the way she came when something happened she was not ready for. The ground she was walking on seem to just melt beneath her feet, and Sanda sank to just below her knees in a matter of seconds. Caught off guard she let out a small scream, and then when she looked down she could see that she was indeed sinking in some kind of mud. Overjoyed beyond belief Sandra started pumping her legs up, and down, trying to get deeper into this stuff, and the more she pulled her legs the deeper she got. When Sandra got waist deep a thought went through her mind that hit her like a hammer. 'I don't have the rope tied around me!' Sandra began to struggle like a wild woman, trying so hard to get out of this mud, that she had been searching for most of the afternoon. It seemed the more she struggled the deeper she sank. Then Sandra tried to remember all that she had read about mud/quicksand, but all she could remember was how to find it, she couldn't remember what it said if you fall in, and don't have anything to get out with. For the first time since leaving gangland, Sandra screamed at the top of her lungs, yelling for anybody to come help her out of this slow, deep, and deadly trap. Sandra, sank just below her chest, when she tried to get out once more. As she moved she could feel the muck pull on her more and more, and when it sucked in her breasts she knew that she couldn't get out on her own. The ground started to move around Sandra, and she knew that the end was near, it was only a matter of time. She didn't want to give up so she tried one more time to get free. If she could find somehing on the ground to get a hold of then she might be able to pull herself out like she did this morning. Sandra looked from left to right and back again, trying to find something to grab hold of, but all there was, was mud, and the rope that was tied to the tree, was over ten feet away. As Sandra closed her eyes to pray, the muck pulled her in up to her chin, and just as she thought that she was doomed, she heard a voice that she knew well, and when she opened her eyes her husband was standing there asking if she needed any help. Overjoyed that her husband was there to save the day, all she could say was, "I can't get loose." Her husband just smiled, and tossed her the end of the rope, and began to pull her out.
