House of Horror by Fear359 (f/f, mud, grim) Jennifer and Pat looked at the old house in front of them, and they both just looked at each other with a look on their face that told the other, "What in the hell are we doing here?" Both the girls knew all the stories of the old house by the marshlands and how the owner went crazy one night and killed everyone in the house and buried their bodies in the bogs and quicksand deep in the marshlands. Both where told that they shouldn't venture out into the marshland at night, but the two of them were head strong, and no one would tell them what to do what could go wrong. They would spend the night in the house get up in the morning and go check out the marshes and then go home, no problem. As the girls got all the things they needed from the jeep they slowly made their way up the steps and to the door of the house. Pat looked at Jennifer and then she opened the door and stepped inside. The inside of the house looked like it was a thousand years old. There was dust everywhere, and cobwebs hung from most of the house. They both turned on their flashlights and started to explore the old and creepy house. As they walked from room to room they both had the feeling that they were being watched, but as they looked around the big house they saw nothing. But that didn't shake the feeling that someone or something was watching them. From room to room they went looking for anything, and nothing. They were both scared and neither one wanted to admit it. After walking through the entire house they both convinced themselves that the house was indeed empty, and that all the stories that they had heard before coming here had indeed freaked them out! As Jennifer looked at her watch it was only 07:00 PM and they had about two hours before they would go to sleep. And they decided that they would go out to the back yard and check out the marshland from the back porch. As they made their way through the house to the back door, it felt like the temperature in the house dropped about 30 degrees, and when they got to the back door Pat took a deep breath and opened up the door and stepped out onto the porch, followed by Jennifer. They both looked out over the vast marshland that was only twenty yards from the fence in the backyard. Jennifer asked Pat if she felt that drop in the temperature when they walked through the kitchen, and when Pat said yes, Jennifer smiled and said, "Good. I thought that I might be loosing my mind!" Pat told her that she couldn't loose what she never had. Both girls laughed and they started to go back into the house when they both thought they heard something. It sounded like a low moan at first, and then it grew into a voice that sounded like a child. But as they looked at each other they shook their heads and walked back into the house and shut the door. As the night went on the girls tried to keep themselves from being bored. So they each told the other one of the stories that they had heard about this place. Jennifer went first and told Pat, that a man named Joe lived here with his wife and children back in the early sixties and came home one day to find his wife in bed with another man. So he killed the two of them, and took their bodies into the marsh and tossed their bodies into a bog. Then he came back and killed all his children, fearing that none of them were his, and threw their bodies into the marsh. Pat had heard that Joe had come home one day and started yelling at the family and then he just snapped and started killing them one by one, and when he was done he took all their bodies and dumped them into the marsh. And when the ground swallowed them up he came back to the house and hung himself. Both girls laughed at how they had made each other afraid, and they decided that they would get ready and go to bed. They had a busy day planned. They were going to head out into the marsh and try to find the bog that Joe threw his family in. Jennifer and Pat got ready for bed. They checked the room that they were staying in over twenty times, looking for anything that might crawl on them during the night. And when they were sure that there was nothing there they climbed in their sleeping bags an went to sleep. About 02:00 AM they were both woken up to a sound that they had a hard time figuring out what it was. As they both looked at each other they both got up and put their shoes on and went out the door to see what was going on. As they came to the staircase they looked down and thought that they saw someone walking, but they were both still rubbing the sleep from their eyes so they weren't sure. But when they heard the back door open and then close they knew that they had indeed seen someone. Neither one of them really knew what to do, so they grabbed their stuff and decided to leave right then and there. As they opened the front door and walked out they were shocked to see that the jeep was gone. Jennifer ran out to where the jeep was and it was indeed gone, but the strange thing about was there were no tire marks anywhere. It was like the jeep had just been picked up and taken away. As Pat came down to where Jennifer was they both looked up and down the road for their jeep, but it was nowhere to be found. They decided that they would go back in the house and see who that was and find out where their jeep was. As they both walked back in the house they both wanted answers to where their jeep was. Jennifer lead the way and marched right through the kitchen to the back door and opened it up, with Pat right on her heels. When they stepped out on the porch they both could see someone walking right for the marsh. As Pat yelled at the person to stop the person just kept walking and walked through the high reeds and then was gone. Jennifer looked at Pat and then without a word they both took off running after this person, who had taken their jeep. When they got to the high reeds they both stopped and then looked around to see if they could see anything, but the marsh was dark and spooky looking. Pat ran back up to the house and grabbed Jennifer's and her backpack and made it back to where Jennifer was. Jennifer grabbed her pack opened it up grabbed her flashlight, threw the pack on her back and told Pat, "Let's go find out where the jeep is!" As the two of them stepped through the reeds it was like another place in time, or better yet, another planet. The entire marsh was covered in a thin like mist that covered the ground. Moss hung off the trees like giant snakes, and the trees looked like monsters just waiting to grab unsuspecting people. They started out walking very slowly because they knew that the marsh had its fair share of bogs, and quicksand running through it. Jennifer held her light towards the ground, and Pat held hers pointing forward. Together they would get to the bottom of this, because this was not funny, not in the least bit. Jennifer stepped in some mud that tried to pull her shoes right off her feet, so she backed up, and told Pat to tie her shoes up. The ground was getting kind of soft. They both tied up their shoes, and then they pressed on further into the marsh. As the girls walked on they could swear that that heard something coming from up ahead, and it sounded like someone crying. Jennifer told Pat to cut her light off, and they would just use hers that was pointed on the ground. That way they could get closer to whoever it was and not scare them. They were still moving forward, when they moved through the reeds, and they could see someone moving through the trees just on the other side of the and it looked like a small child they couldn't be sure because of all the fog, but they knew it was someone. They both began to move forward past the reeds. As they got into through the reeds the low fog that covered the ground was getting thin, and then it was gone. Jennifer turned off her flashlight and unzipped her pack, threw it in and zipped it back up. Jennifer didn't know what to make of the little kid or whoever it was and she looked at Pat who was just as lost as she was, and then they decided that they would go see where the little kid was going. As they came through the clearing the ground felt like a waterbed and moved up and down with each step that they took. As they came up through some more reeds they could see something that they didn't understand at first but when they got a closer look they could see ghosts, and it looked like they were struggling in the ground, and then they heard something that chilled them to the bone. "Daddy, please help us! Why did you throw us in the bog?" "Stop calling me that! I don't even know that you are my children! So you can sink to your deaths and be with your whoring mother!" "Daddy, please! It's pulling us in more and more! Daddy, please! /Daddy!/" Then there was no sound whatsoever. Then they heard the bog burp, and Pat and Jennifer thought that they would throw up. And before they knew what was happening the man turned around and looked right at them and started running right for them. Both the girls turned to run away, not really knowing why they were running, but when fear takes over you don't question it you just run. As they hit the clearing running the ground shook and then gave way and Jennifer and Pat found themselves ankle deep in muck. As Pat tried to lift her right foot out her left one went in deeper. Jennifer tried to pump her legs up and down to get her feet free, but all she was doing was sinking. And before they knew what had happened they heard a voice come from behind them, then in front of them, then from each side of them. "I don't know who you are but you have seen what I've done and I can't have you running to the police. So I will let the bog have more victims." When the girls heard the word bog, they began to move their legs up and down to get free, but no matter what they did they couldn't get loose. Pat reached down with her hands and tried to pull her legs free, and when she gave a mighty pull the bottom fell away from beneath their feet and they both sank up to their thighs. Pat couldn't move her hands fast enough, and when the bog pulled her in her hands were still on her calves, now her hands were trapped beneath the bog. The harder she tried to pull them out the deeper that she sank. Jennifer tried to lean back and crawl out of the bog, but as she leaned back and put her arms behind her, they sank into the ground and she couldn't pull them out, no matter how hard she tried. Pat screamed to Jennifer for help, and Jennifer was calling to Pat for help. The entire time that they were sinking the man that sank his kids was still standing there not helping them, but watching them sink to their deaths. Jennifer could feel the bog pulling on her arms and back but there wasn't anything that she could do, the more she fought the pull the deeper she sank. Pat was still trying to get her arms out of the bog but all she did was sink in up to her waist. And then she screamed and told Jennifer that something was pointing her toes down. Pat would not have that and when she tried to get them straight again the bog resisted her movements and pulled her in another five inches. Jennifer told Pat that if she could get her arms free that she could help her out, but as Jennifer called upon some extra strength to get her arms free, the bog pulled her in more. The more the girls struggled the deeper they went down. Finally, after ten minutes of hopeless struggling, the girls begged for help, but when they looked up the old man was walking back to the house. He turned to look at them and told them that he was sorry that he couldn't help them. But he had nothing else to live for. His wife was a whore, and he didn't think the kids he just killed were his. And he was going home to hang himself, and then maybe God would forgive him for what he has done. As he disappeared into nothing the girls screamed louder and louder for help but no one came to help them. And then even the cries for help stopped. The following week the police went out to the house and searched for the girls but couldn't find them anywhere. And when they sent a search party into the marsh they found the girls' jeep, buried in a small bog about ten feet deep. The police dragged the bog for the bodies but found nothing. The police thought that the girls had been out four-wheeling in the marsh and got the jeep stuck in the bog, and instead of back tracking out they decided to get back to the house by going straight through the marsh, and got trapped in one of the numerous bogs, or quicksand that riddled the marsh. After a month the case was closed. Six months later "Lee-Ann! How about going with me to the old house by the marsh?" "Just say when, Carol, I'm game! What do you hope to find, anyway?" "I don't know. Just want to have some fun I guess. You know, find out if the stories are true!" "Okay, cool! Count me in. How about next month, after school gets out?" "Cool, next month it is then!"
